Already tired of coldness, greyness and waiting for spring sun? Then mark the 22nd of February as brightly as possible, come to the Open-Air Museum of Lithuania and celebrate the most genuine and real Mardi Gras! Here you can have fun, eat, kill the winter with laughter and wake up the spring! And if you want to take a break from yourself for a while, come with a traditional mask. Certainly, the celebration will be crowned by a fierce duel of the Fat and the Hemp and the solemn burning of Morė!

THE PROGRAM:

From 10 AM:

  • Fair.
  • Post office: an opportunity to send greetings cards and get all the information about the festival.
  • Monopolka.
  • Masks workshop.
  • Masters of traditional masks – folk artist Viktoras Raibužis and his students.
  • Bakery.
  • Doctor of the Mardi Gras (reception until 2 PM).
  • The Transfiguration house (open until 2 PM).

From noon:

  • Selection for the “Mardi Gras Mask 2020” competition (the board works throughout the event) until 1:30 PM.
  • Exhibition of Saulius Tamulis masks. Surprise! The first one, who correctly counts all Morė’s beads, will get a traditional Mardi Gras mask from the master S. Tamulis!
  • Samogitian homestead hosts – folklore ensembles.
  • Breaking of the pots.
  • A quiz “Hodgepodge”.
  • Making pancakes “Under the Wing of the Mill in the Open-Air”.
  • Games.
  • Horse riding.
  • Wandering of traditional Mardi Gras characters.
  • 1 PM The game “Biting of bagels”.
  • 2 PM “Mardi Gras Mask 2020” competition and the announcement of the winners on the podium in the town.
  • 2:45 PM the mourning procession of Morė from the Town through Samogitian homesteads to the bonfire.
  • Rumour spread: Kanapinskas promises to conquer Kumpinskas!
  • Dance of awakened bears – all around.
  • 3.30 PM bonfire for Morė
  • From 3 PM mourning lunch in Mičiūnai and Pakapiai homesteads (Aukštaitija)
