The Open Air Museum of Lithuania welcomes everybody to celebrate Easter Monday and the rebirth of nature on the 28th of March. There will be lots of music and dancing with bands and ensembles coming from every corner of the country. The Easter song singers will be spreading around their best wishes and the Easter Granny, known by the name of Velykė, will be giving gifts to children. There will be a huge selection of Easter games and competitions, such as giant Easter egg rolling, carrying Easter eggs along a log, “Easter basketball” and many, many more.
Banishing the Winter Season on February 6

On the early morning of February 6, the Open Air Museum of Lithuania burst into song and laughter as the celebration of Mardi Gras started. Thousands of people came to the museum to banish the winter and welcome the spring. Everybody enjoyed the good weather and the opportunity to spend the day outdoors. The festive mood was topped up with performances by folk bands and musicians from all over the country.

In November 2015 the contract of 6 buildings restoration with building company „Lakaja“were signed. A larger homestead, which consists of 5 buildings - a cottage, barn with stables, barn, the other barn and sauna will be preserved with authentic architecture and interior. The smaller homestead will be restored based on the best examples of old buildings restoration and good practice of Norwegian craftsmen.

Welcome to the Open-Air Museum of Lithuania On December 27, the third day of Christmas, also known as the Ice Day. It is the day when any hard work is frowned upon and the best thing to do is go visiting people and places, so hesitate no more and join us for some great fun! Witness the traditional dragging and burning of a tree stump symbolizing the vanishing of the evil piled up throughout the year. Let us leave no hardships for the upcoming year. Let’s celebrate with singing and dancing and lots of delicious food, and, if Mother Nature gifts us with any snow, we will play all kinds of winter games! The celebration starts at 12:00 PM. Do not miss it for your bad luck will follow you into the New Year...
