Ann‘s name day is also the celebration of the ripe harvest. In the past, the hardest summer jobs were completed at that time. It is the time when the new harvest replaces the old one. Fresh bread was baked this day, so people would say, that “St. Ann is a lady of bread”.

According to the old traditions, we will cross and tie rye, sing rye harvesting songs, congratulate the namesake and have fun! We will do it with Kaunas folklore club “Liktužė” and Rumšiškės Culture Center folklore ensemble “Praviena”.

The Ann’s name day and rye harvesting festival will take place on July 26th at noon. It’s the last Sunday of this month, so visiting the museum will be free of charge! Let’s meet by the rye field in Aukštaitija village.
